My 21-month-old DS has eczema. It has been on his feet only since he was 5-6 months old, but in just the past few weeks has cropped up in other areas: legs, arm creases, and a patch on his belly. He has also been scratching his head, mostly in his sleep, but I don't see any irritation on his scalp. I am trying my best to manage it but while we have had a few good days, it just won't go away. Here are things I have tried:
Moisturizing a lot... started with aquaphor and recently switched to cereve. The cereve seems to help a little more.
Hydrocortisone when it's bad.
Wet wrapping at night.
100% cotton sheets, clothes, Jammies
Keeping a food diary...I don't see any correlations after 2 weeks really
Deep cleaned his room
Double rinsing laundry, and we use arm & hammer detergent, no perfumes or dyes
I feel heat might be a trigger since it got worse around the time the humidity spike, but we had several days where we stayed insider in the air conditioning, so I dunno.
Our pediatrician gave us a referral for a dermatologist, but the only one who accepts our insurance is booked thru December! I am also able to take him to have a blood draw at any time to test for allergies, but I was kind of hoping to talk with a dermatologist first. Not sure whatever to take next...should I have the blood draw done? I've read allergy testing isn't always accurate, but it would be nice to have a starting place for some possible answers as to what is triggering this.
Thanks if you made it this far!! Any insight is appreciated!
