What type do/have you used? Any reason why? Any to avoid?
I have small cracks happening and wanted to start on something first thing in the morning but holy is there alot to choose from
Have you tried a nipple soothing gel guard? I was having issues as well, mostly because my little one has a lip and tongue tie and wasn't able to latch on correctly....the gel guard was my lifesaver....One similar to this oneIf you choose to try one of these, do not use any sort of cream or balm.... some have alternated between the gel guard or something similar to lanolin...but if you are allergic to wool ...do not use the lanolin...good luck and I hope that helps.Lizzy
Have you tried just a simple lanolin first? That is something that you don't have to wipe off when you LO nurses.
I used lanolin. I've heard breastmilk works great too, but I've never tried it.
Breastmilk does work but not really for damage already done, more as a preventative. If you have a crack already you need to treat it with lanonlin or coconut oil or a prescription like all purpose nipple ointment (APNO).
yup this! i would let the breastmilk dry on the nipple then apply the lanolin
Thanks ladies. I have a couple samples to try out. It's not a full crack just the start of one but boy did it bring back memories of the pain. I've never heard of using breast milk. Do I express alittle and let it sit in the breastpad?
I believe the best way to apply the breastmilk is to actually express a little and then rub it into your nipple a bit and let it dry. Then put on the lanolin afterwards. Hang in there mama!
